Moody Gardens offers three glass pyramids housing an aquarium, a rainforest, and a discovery museum. It skews toward families with younger children and runs on the larger and more polished side compared to what you’ll find in Crystal Beach. The Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier on the seawall has rides and sits directly over the water.
For food, Galveston has a serious dining scene by Texas coast standards. The restaurant options are meaningfully broader than what Crystal Beach offers, which makes a Galveston lunch or dinner a reasonable addition to a day trip.

Sea Rim does not have the amenities of a typical state park. There is a small visitor center, primitive camping, and boardwalks through the marsh. It is a destination for people specifically interested in the coastal prairie ecosystem rather than a polished outdoor recreation experience.
If you have a day with no particular agenda and want to see a stretch of the Texas coast that looks more or less the way it did before any development happened, Sea Rim is worth the drive.
